Guest Speaker: John “Spike” Buckley
Principal
Spike serves as Principal of Grimley Capital and has four decades of experience as an early-stage investor, commercial real estate owner, and developer of multifamily, retail and office properties, with current and past projects across the U.S. and Canada. In conjunction with his real estate activities, he is committed to mobilizing supporters and activating investors to tackle the climate crisis. Spike founded Earth’s Call Fund in May 2019, and in the same year, he was honored with the Earth Legacy Leadership Award from the American Renewable Energy Day Summit (AREDay). In 2021, he co-founded One Earth Philanthropy and served as a member of its Board of Directors until 2023. He is currently a member of the Board of Directors of the Global Warming Mitigation Project, the Climate Democracy Initiative, PharmaJet, Inc., and Cryptomill Technologies. He is also on the Advisory Board of the Grace Gorilla Rehabilitation and Education Center. He is an avid supporter and funder of Conservation Colorado, the League of Conservation Voters, the Sierra Club, Greenpeace, NextGen America, and the Denver Dumb Friends League, among others. He is a graduate of The Episcopal Academy and a member of its Board of Trustees. Spike graduated from the University of Colorado Boulder with a bachelor’s degree in economics.

Three fun facts about Spike:

• In 2018, he was invited to the Vatican to meet the Pope due to the collaboration he had planned for Earth’s Call, a three-day environmental conference he hosted in Aspen in May 2019.
• The team at Pharmajet has vaccinated approximately 15,000,000 children in Africa and the Middle East against polio.
• At Curemark, one of his long-standing VC investments, they are targeting the end of this year to go to market with the only harmless, non-toxic therapy for autism.
